DESCRIPTION: This was a visionary project that became a reality. The pre-development work and the Vision Study established the outlines of the project and the needed relationships to bring the project to fruition. The project was then executed in three phases over a five year period in a successful collaboration between market rate and affordable housing advocates in Over-The-Rhine. The result is a revitalized city block with the first owner-occupied new residential construction in many years. The City Home project revitalized the 1400 block of Pleasant Street in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood of Cincinnati. The project consists of 12 new infill townhouses and 3 renovated historic buildings, as well as a new streetscape design. The infill townhouses range in size from 1500-2100 SF. Each unit has a small inner courtyard that provides private outdoor space and brings light into the center of the house. The houses span the small urban lot, each providing a two car garage with alley access from the back. The project brought together both the affordable housing and the market rate housing interests in Cincinnati.
